Last looked over: 21 October 2026

We want everyone to be able to find a salon on TILZA, book it and follow their booking with ease, people of determination and older people among them, in Arabic and English. This page says what we have done for that, what we know is still missing, and how to tell us when something is hard to use.

The standard we follow

  • We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, WCAG 2.2, at level AA. They take in WCAG 2.1 level AA, which the UAE’s National Policy for Digital Accessibility (March 2024) adopts.
  • Where TILZA is now: partly conforming. Its pages meet that level where we have checked them, and what we know is still missing is written below, under «Still missing».
  • This rests on the right of people of determination to reach services and information, which Federal Law No. 29 of 2006 on the rights of people of determination, and its amendments, protect.

What works now

  • Screen readers: every button, field and link has a name that is read out, in Arabic on the Arabic page and in English on the English one, and every page has its name and its headings in order.
  • Keyboard: every step can be done with the keys alone, a clear outline shows where you are, and the first thing you reach on each page is a «Skip to content» link. The bar at the bottom of the screen never covers where you are.
  • Bigger text: the pages zoom up to 200% without losing anything, and work on a screen 320 points wide without scrolling sideways.
  • Colours: words stand out from their background by at least 4.5 to 1, colour never says anything without words, and there is a dark look for those who want it.
  • Motion: when your device asks for less motion, the pages stop their animations.
  • Signing in: you can paste your password and your code, password managers work, and we never ask you to solve a puzzle.
  • Forms: every field has its name, a mistake is said in words and read out by a screen reader when it shows, and the buttons are big enough to tap.

Still missing

  • The map in the search is a picture a screen reader can’t read in full. The same salons are written in the list, which is what shows first.
  • Photos of a salon’s work are added by the salon, and are described only by the service’s name, not by what is in them.
  • TILZA doesn’t yet show in one way whether a salon’s way in suits a wheelchair, or whether it has parking for people of determination. The salon may write it under «Getting there and parking» on its page; if not, ask it on its number before you book.
  • The phone apps aren’t out yet; this page is about the TILZA website.
  • We have checked TILZA with tools and ourselves, and haven’t yet tested it with users who are people of determination.

How we check

  • We check every page with an automatic tool (axe), in Arabic and English, in the light and the dark look, on screens from a phone to a computer.
  • We also book with the keyboard alone, read what a screen reader hears, make the text bigger and the screen narrower.
  • We check again with every update that changes a page, and look over this whole page at least once a year.

Tell us

If something on TILZA is hard to use, tell us with the button below: which page, what didn’t work, and your device or screen reader if you know it. It opens «Report a problem» with its kind already chosen, so it reaches TILZA’s team only; the team answers you on the report’s link, and you don’t need to sign in.
